P is for Paddington and Polar Bear

Just so happened that I was making two bears that start with the letter P.

Paddington bear was made for my sister who is a Paddington Bear fan. I don't know when she started falling in love with him, but he sure is adorable. I found out that Paddington's face changed over the last 50 years, which explains why some pictures has a more squarish snout and others have a more roundish-pointy one.

I actually found a picture of balloon paddington on mbd2.com and worked my way from there. It's about 50-60cm tall when standing.

This polar bear came because I had 350Q whites what I wanted to try. It's winter here now, so what better creature than a polar bear! Also to try out this new snout technique that I've been working on after watching a youtube bear tutorial.

My 5 y.o. helped to draw the mouth and decided that it was to be a girl, so she added a heart for it. I can see rooms for improvements, but for now, I'm happy with the way the snout and eyes worked out.

You can see more balloon photos on my Facebook page here.

Hoot the Owl

It has been a tiring week and Friday really didn't help being the end of the week. It's the last work/school day for our week. Little miss 1yr 8months was cranky this morning. Went to playgroup and 1 little girl wasn't very happy. In the afternoon, a friend posted on FB that her son threw a tantrum. Met a few other difficult children this week too. I needed a break from my tired children and so we sat down to make balloons.

Decided to make a Hoot character this afternoon because I know of children who adore Hoot and I have been meaning to make it for some time already.

Well, this little buddy is going to brighten up a little boy's day soon! Would you like one too?

As the motto of Balloonaholic goes, "Bringing smiles to everyone through the beauty of balloon sculptures."

Start of Balloonaholic!

This blog started because I needed somewhere to keep my balloon photos and do a little writeup about them. I started balloon twisting as a hobby in November 2011 and am now hopelessly addicted to them. A friend gave me the term 'Balloonaholic' and I liked it so much, I'm starting a blog with this title!

I'm still at the stage of learning from online videos and forums and am truly grateful to the balloon community around the world for being so generous in sharing their expertise and skills. I will be posting the links of where the tutorials came from. If you are into balloon twisting, I hope you'll find the links helpful!

Thought I'll also post up some pictures of balloons that I had learnt this year.. It's been quite a journey and I have learnt a lot through the videos and forums.

Happy twisting!
